Historical information Batavia Tall Ship Model:
The Batavia, a sizable vessel owned by the Dutch East India Company (Vereenigde Oost Indische Compagnie – VOC), constructed in Amsterdam in 1628. It was classified as an East Indiaman, designed for long voyages and capable of transporting substantial quantities of valuable cargo such as spices, silk and precious stones.
The Batavia featured a lavish and impressive design with its bow and stern adorned with ornate jewelry and intricate patterns. The ship was about 57 meters (187 feet) in length and 7.5 meters (25 feet) in width. It was equipped with three masts and a sophisticated rigging system, including numerous square and fore and aft sails which were adjusted to accommodate varying wind and sea conditions.
