Preussen was a German five masted windjammer with five steel masts, built in 1902 for the renowned shipping company F. Laeisz and named after the German state and kingdom of Prussia. It was the only ship of its class with five masts and six sails on each mast in the world’s merchant fleet.
Until the launch of the similar Royal Clipper, a sailing cruise ship, in 2000 it was the only fully rigged ship (i.e., a ship carrying square sails on all masts) with five masts ever built.
