Historical information Rms Britannic Passenger Ship Model:

This Britannic, the third ship of the White Star Line bearing that name was constructed at Harland & Wolff, Belfast and launched in 1929. Unlike the traditional steam turbine powered vessels of her time, Britannic and her near sister Georgic were motorships propelled by diesel engines, making them unique in the White Star Line’s fleet. These were the only two motorships operated by White Star Line during its tenure.
Britannic embarked on her maiden voyage (Liverpool Belfast Glasgow New York) on June 28, 1930. During summers she typically traversed the North Atlantic while winters saw her cruising to the Caribbean from New York. In 1934 she joined Cunard White Star but maintained her distinctive White Star livery and flew the Burgee White Star flag alongside (and until 1950 above) the Cunard house flag throughout her career. Alongside Georgic, she transitioned to the London, New York route in 1935.
During the war, Britannic served as a troopship, ferrying approximately 180.000 troops over 376.000 miles. Resuming her Liverpool, New York service in 1948, she officially became a Cunard vessel (still displaying the White Star colors) when Cunard absorbed Cunard White Star in 1950.
