Its production, spanning from 1962 to 1996, included various iterations such as the Lungo, Super, and Special models. Drawing inspiration from the earlier Riva Tritone, itself influenced by the classic American mahogany Chris-Craft runabouts, the Aquarama is celebrated for its blend of speed, elegance, and impeccable craftsmanship, often likened to the Ferrari of the boating realm. Founded in 1842 by Pietro Riva, the company remained under the stewardship of Carlo Riva until its acquisition by the American Whittaker Corporation in 1969.
