Historical information TCD Orage WarShip Model :
The Ouragan class (known as Hurricane in English) consisted of French landing platform docks used by the Marine Nationale. These vessels, referred to as Transport de chalands de débarquement (TCD) in French, marked France’s first series of such docks. Starting service in the late 1960s, both ships operated in the Pacific Ocean as part of France’s nuclear program.
Originally scheduled to be replaced by the Foudre-class in the 1990s, delays extended their service until they were eventually succeeded by the Mistral-class amphibious assault ships in the 2000s, plans to sell them to Argentina were halted due to asbestos concerns. Decommissioned in 2007, both vessels were dismantled in Belgium in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
