The SS American Scout is a C-2 type cargo ship operated by American States Lines, measured 459 feet in length and featured five cargo holds. These vessels were notable as some of the largest cargo ships of their time. The American Scout performed admirably during World War II but tragically ran aground and was abandoned following a cargo-loading incident in 1969.
